Recommended Geopark Guide (R2G)
Background
Hong Kong Geopark opened to the public in 2009. Responding to local and overseas visitors' increasing demand for high quality tour guides and guiding service, Association for Geoconservation, Hong Kong, introduced the Recommended Geopark Guide (R2G) System with Hong Kong Geopark in June 2010. Taking reference from assessment criteria of the International Ecotourism Society and Ecotourism Australia, a set of accreditation criteria, standards and guidelines were formulated for the R2G system. Tour guides are encouraged to upgrade their tour guiding skills and knowledge to superior levels that meet international standards.
